Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is when the brain has trouble understanding the inputs it is receiving from the different senses of the body. This could affect one or more of the senses: hearing, vision, proprioception (awareness of where the body is), taste, vestibular (balance and spatial orientation) and more. No one really knows the exact cause of SPD but it is commonly also seen in those with autism, ADHD, or children with developmental delays. What if I told you I knew of an obvious common tie between these diagnoses?

Typically, those with SPD tend to be referred to a Occupational Therapist (OT) for help. The therapist will then try to help expose the child or adult to different stimuli and then train the appropriate response. This looks like swinging, exposure to different types of touch, or encouragement to eat different textures of foods and more.

But…. what if your child only gets more irritated after these appointments?
What if you are not seeing changes in the real world?
What if you understood that outputs (reactions/responses) were driven by an underlying cause and understanding of the inputs?
What if you knew how to change the brain’s understanding of the inputs so that it can trigger the appropriate output?
MNRI (Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration) could be the solution you've been searching for. When the brain struggles to either 1) interpret sensory input or 2) generate an appropriate response, MNRI has proven highly effective—regardless of which sense is affected. This approach rewires the brain’s ability to process sensory information correctly, linking it to the appropriate response. Naturally. Permanently. Without overwhelming the system or relying on stressful exercises.

Through the integration of primary reflexes and the use of intentional touch (or alternatives if touch is overwhelming), you or your child can achieve greater harmony between body and brain. These reflexes are deeply connected to Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), autism, ADHD, and developmental delays - like I hinted at earlier. When properly integrated, the brain and body can function as they should, often leading to a significant reduction—or even resolution—of symptoms associated with these diagnoses. This is done without having to “retrain” the output - it just happens naturally when you can connect the dots for the body.
Please reach out if you feel like you are in need of the Missing Link - aka MNRI. We would be happy to explain more in depth on the importance of integrated reflexes and help you or your child navigate the world with greater ease and confidence.
