Over the last few weeks, Shelby has been working with a young client - 35 years old - who was experiencing low back tightness and discomfort likely because of yet another herniated disc. He has experienced two confirmed ones already. In the past he has had surgery to deal with the problem as well as physical therapy. Physical therapy had kept it at bay for a while but eventually the discomfort came back. He found out that his previous doctor had moved on so he was unsure of where to turn. Even though he was able to stay active with most of his hobbies - jujitsu and most workouts - getting up from bed, standing up from a chair and sand volleyball were very uncomfortable.

Luckily, a client of Shelby’s had referred him to see her. Immediately after one session he was able to get up out of a chair with MUCH less discomfort. Since then, they have had a few more sessions with further success each time. He has found greater range of motion in many joints,
working out feels better, no longer has a difficult time getting out of bed in the morning, and he has been able to return to sand volleyball! By combining the Masgutova Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration (MNRI) and lymphatic work, Shelby has been able to give this client the ability to return to hobbies he loves as well as move throughout daily life in general with more confidence.
For this client, the anti-gravity work within MNRI has made the largest, most lasting difference. The discs in between our vertebrae are there to provide ease of movement, but if we cannot resist the force of gravity that is upon us at all points of the day, then these squishy, soft discs get smashed and pushed out. This “leak” tends to hit nerves and other points that likely cause some severe discomfort causing lack of motivation to do any sort of movement.
By giving the body the ability to resist and work with gravity, then our vertebrae can stay where they need to be and the herniated disc may just go right back to where it needs to be without any other techniques - that is what happened with this client! He was able to steer clear of another surgery or long bout in therapy, and he was able to get lasting results for a fraction of the cost. If you or someone you know is struggling with a herniated disc (no matter how many they have had in the past) let them know that there is a technique out there that could cause lasting results without having to do stretches/exercises every night forever! It may be just as simple as striking up a friendship with gravity again for them as well.
